Prolonging fragrance with 1-AZA-3,7-Dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane compounds and silicic acid esters
U.S. Patent Application 20140329732
Publication date: Nov. 6, 2014
Inventors: A Bauer, U Huchel, A Gerigk, M Weyhe, T Gerke and H Smyrek
Disclosed in this patent are combinations of 1-aza-3,7-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane compounds and silicic acid esters for use as pro-fragrances in washing and cleaning agents, fabric softeners and cosmetics. These hydrolysis-stable scent precursor forms can be incorporated into aqueous compositions to sustainably cover bad odors even over a period of days; for example, in wet, washed laundry that has been left in the washing machine or laundry basket.
Novel class of octahydroazulenol derivatives for fragrance, flavor
U.S. Patent 8883468
Publication date: Nov. 11, 2014
Assignee: Givaudan S.A.
According to these inventors, there is a constant demand for flavor and fragrance compounds possessing unique olfactory properties, in particular floral, woody odor notes. Such compounds extend a perfumer's palette to create greater product diversity for consumers. Here, a novel class of octahydroazulenol derivatives has been identified that possess very strong floral, woody odor characteristics. (3S,5R)-3,8-dimethyl-5-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-octahydroazulen-1-ols, their use as flavor or fragrance ingredient, and a process of their production by oxidation in the presence of laccase are described. The compounds according to formula may be used in fine and functional perfumery, air care and household products, laundry products, body care and cosmetics.
Film-forming in personal care
U.S. Patent Application 20140328776
Publication date: Nov. 6, 2014
Inventors: S Dong
Disclosed herein is the discovery that when polyvinyl acetal (PVA) is mixed with siloxane having a hydrophilic group, in a solvent, it constitutes a film-forming composition suitable for medical and cosmetic uses. Compositions, kits and methods of preparing a biocompatible film for cosmetic or medical uses are disclosed. The film can be used in the form of an antimicrobial sealant, a liquid bandage, body paints, scar camouflage, water-proof sun block, makeup sealer or antimicrobial wipe or spray.
Silybum marianum and Momordica grosvenorii for cleansing
U.S. Patent 8877259
Publication date: Nov. 4, 2014
Assignee: Mary Kay Inc.
According to this patent, cleansers including high levels of surfactants and alcohol can be caustic or irritating to skin. Further, the use of high amounts of water generally precludes the addition of skin benefit ingredients, e.g., moisturizers and skin actives, or the formulation of standard base preparations for use with wide-ranging skin types. Here, a solution is proposed to these challenges: a combination of botanical ingredients to create a cleansing formulation for a wide variety of skin types, e.g., dry, normal, oily, and combinations thereof, using a base set of ingredients.
The amounts of base ingredients used can be modified for the particular combination of botanical ingredients used. Specifically disclosed is a topical skin cleanser comprising Silybum marianum fruit extract, Momordica grosvenorii fruit extract, and a cosmetic vehicle comprising at least 50% w/w of water and disodium EDTA, glycerin, phenoxyethanol, triethanolamine, 3-Iodo-2-propynyl butyl carbamate and benzyl alcohol.
Use of isosorbide diesters as thickeners
U.S. Patent Application 20140323592
Publication date: Oct. 30, 2014
Assignee: Clariant International Ltd.
This patent describes a thickener based on one or more compounds including a straight-chain or branched saturated alkyl group having 5 to 11 carbon atoms; or a straight-chain or branched mono- or polyunsaturated alkenyl group having 5 to 11 carbon atoms. The compounds are based on renewable raw materials such as, for example, isosorbide, which can be obtained from sugar. They can be prepared in a simple manner by methods familiar to the person skilled in the art; for example, by esterification of isosorbide with an acid component such as a carboxylic acid.
Furthermore, the appearance of the products comprising these compounds is not negatively affected by their presence. For example, compared to xanthan gum which, as natural thickener, frequently yields products having a “brittle” or irregular, rough surface, whereas the compounds of the present formula enable the preparation of thickened products having a smooth surface.
Self-tanning composition
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/177406
Publication date: Nov. 6, 2014
Assignee: L'Oréal
The present invention relates to a composition including at least one peptide corresponding to formula: R-V1-Ala2-His3-X4-Y5-Trp6-NH2; one xanthine base chosen from the group consisting of 3,7-dimethylxanthine, 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine and 1,7-dimethylxanthine; and one additional compound. This formula can be used for coloring or pigmenting keratin materials; i.e., self-tanning of the skin.
Device for applying epilation wax
U.S. Patent 8882382
Publication date: Nov. 11, 2014
Assignee: Church & Dwight Co., Inc.
According to these inventors, applying and removing epilation wax must be simple, fast, precise, require no skill and, most importantly, pose no risk to the user. In response, a device was developed to not only target these requirements, but also meet industrial objectives including simplicity of fabrication; a limited number of pieces to facilitate assembly; and durable and reliable functioning, without blockages. This device comprises: a body containing wax; a head comprising an open housing, provided with longitudinal and transverse lateral walls; and the housing receiving a movable applicator mounted in rotation in the housing, characterized in that the movable applicator is a wheel whose lateral surfaces are domed.
Cosmetic liquid dispensing device
U.S. Patent 8863994
Publication date: Oct. 21, 2014
Assignee: Aptar Dortmund GmbH
According to this invention, in today's dispensing devices, particularly for foaming or foamed liquids, there is often a problem that the liquids or products formed from them come out after the actual dispensing is finished. This problem is particularly striking in shaving foam or the like, but also occurs in non-foamed or non-foaming liquids and can lead to undesired contaminations of the dispensing devices.
The object of the present invention is therefore to provide an improved dispensing device whereby an improved valve construction is made possible with a simple, cost-effective construction. A simple, tightly closing structure of the outlet valve is achieved in that a valve element is injected onto a wall and/or lies thereon with its entire surface or flat surface when the valve is closed and/or the valve element covers an outlet opening on the flat side. Alternatively, or in addition, the valve element is pretensioned into a closed position when the valve is closed.
