Vanillyl Butyl Ether to Topically Induce Blood Cell Flux, Warming Sensation

It has been hypothesized that vanillyl butyl ether (VBE) has the same warming and vasodilation mechanisms as capsicum. Thus, VBE was formulated at various levels into cream formulations and applied topically to the forearms of 21 individuals. Following application, changes in blood cell flux (BCF) were investigated using a laser speckle contrast imager.

In the present study, researchers selected an acetylated tetrapeptide for its effect on epidermis cohesion, triggered by activity on syndecan-1 and collagen XVII; these effects are confirmed in vivo.

Two azobenzene compounds were synthesized and combined in liposomal membranes. Their physico-chemical properties and biocompatibility were evaluated. The safer one was chosen, and its protective function for UVA and UVB were tested in vitro and in vivo. This azobenzene liposomal formulation provided good efficacy with longer shelf life, which could be utilized as a novel kind of repeated UV absorber.
